When to become exclusive online dating
I've been out of the dating game for about 5 years now (in a LTR) so am not so sure, especially with online dating, how fast do things tend to move?Ideally I think I'd like to date 2-3 guys, maybe see each one once or twice a week and see what develops from there. I've heard that so many guys expect sex by date 3, but then doesn't that typically mean you're also exclusive? The fallout (or perhaps, benefit) from this aversion to labels remains to be seen.
And that's okay because, contrary to those bemoaning the supposed death of monogamy, it's clearly not the monogamy that freaks him out, but rather, monogamy's prescribed terminology.I'm open to meeting new people, I just don't want to get very committed until I really feel like he's the right one, if that makes sense.I just met this guy - he's the second guy I met on Eharmony and while we get along and I like him, I think I'd like to meet a few more as well..to see what the connections would be like, etc.Indeed, labels are often black and white, imposing undesirable norms upon huge swaths of people to whom rigid conventions cannot and should not be applied. I mean, honestly, why is it such a big deal to call someone your boyfriend or girlfriend?Labels do well, however, to simplify and clarify -- to provide boundaries and set expectations. Unlike married couples -- or even cohabitating, unmarried couples -- should a boyfriend and girlfriend breakup, there are few -- if any -- financial or familial troubles to navigate.
